5 Marketing Tactics That Cost (Almost) Nothing

Most start ups, especially these days, face significant funding challenges. While it is true that the cost of building an online company has come down significantly in the past ten years, the costs of paid search, banner ads and print advertising can still be unattainable for many small companies.

Most of the articles I have read about “free” marketing tactics focus on social media. They encourage business owners to start a blog, tweet, or write a book or white paper. While these are nice ideas, they are time consuming, and may or may not yield results. Here are five things you can do to bring in new customers with zero or little up front cost. Used strategically, these tactics can produce an excellent ROI for your company.

1. Link exchanges. While you NEVER want to buy links (a.k.a. use black hat methods of link building), creating a link network with other companies in your field can help all of your sites grow. These links can take the form of blogrolls, promotional posts, or banner ad exchanges. Especially in this economy, when all budgets are tight, companies are more eager to swap space and links than ever. If your target demographic matches that of another site, swapping sponsored emails is another great way to gain exposure.

2. Pinterest. Pinterest is a rapidly growing visual pin board/social network with over 10 million unique visitors that allows you to pin images to visual boards. With Pinterest, you can quickly establish yourself as an industry expert by creating boards built around the important keywords for your company. You can also post content on your website about how your clients or partners can use Pinterest and include links to your company’s Pinterest profile in your examples (e.g. How to Use Pinterest to connect with your IBOTOOLBOX associates). In just four weeks using this technique, Pinterest has become the fourth largest source of traffic to my site.

3. Contests and giveaways. Everyone likes getting something for free, so contest and promotions are a great way to drive traffic and email sign ups on your site. Don’t forget to post your contests on social media sites too! Make a Pinterest contest board in your industry category for added punch.

4. Refer-a -Friend programs. Let your customers help you spread the word about your company with a refer-a-friend program. Offer a special deal or discount they can pass along to their friends and colleagues for free and incentivise them to share the love.

5. Affiliate marketing. Big Companies REALLY Are Ready to Pay You Right Now for Your Time! There are a lot of companies willing to shell out cash for your time, as they will pay you for bringing visitors to their sites, who go on to buy their product. Basically you become a commission salesperson for these companies. Fortunately a “Commission Salesperson” doesn’t work the same online as it does offline!

With these strategies, you or your company can accomplish a lot without breaking the bank. What other free marketing tactics is your company using? Let me know!

PINTEREST ~ “All Aboard!”

What began as a simple way to collect images on the web has exploded into a phenomenon of self-expression and inspiration from others. I think people care about Pinterest because it helps them feel inspired.

You could get inspired to start a new hobby, or stumble upon a product you never knew existed or quickly find something to cook for dinner. It’s also personal: It’s about the things you like.

That kind of intimacy created a strong emotional tie to the brand. What we like is who we are, so sharing what we like online is like saying “Here’s who I am.”

Why is the brand so popular? Because its popularity is being shaped by the users. Pinterest started out as a way to help people collect images across the web, but it didn’t take off right away. Later it evolved into a place for people to find and save things that inspired them.

User-friendliness is also key. Designing it so you pin on a board is brilliant, because it’s what you actually do at home. People understand that.

Klout named Pinterest one of the most influential companies. The site had more than 27 million unique U.S.-based PC visitors in 2012, an increase of 1,047 percent, and the largest year-over-year growth in audience and time spent of any social network, according to Nielsen.

So as Pinterest continues to grow and expand, don’t you think it’s time for you to take a close look at this blossoming social giant? Maybe add it to your social arsenal???

My Devotional – Moving From Doubt to Faith

Why do we experience so much doubt?

1. Because doubt satisfies our need for self protection – We don’t like to be wrong., to get hurt, or to fail, so our subconscious reasoning says, “It’s easier not to trust, to lower my expectations so I won’t be disappointed.” But your are disappointed, aren’t you? Why? Because of your doubt.

2. Because doubting comes easy – We don’t wake up in the morning and say to ourselves, “Today I’m going to doubt God.” No, doubt comes moves into a vacuum, it takes over when we don’t do the right things. “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Ro 10:17). If you don’t keep your mind filled with God’s word you’ll be constantly assailed by doubts.

3. Because doubters are easy to find – Sometimes the people around us dwell on all the obstacles and difficulties, opening the door to doubt. And once that stream starts flowing, you get carried along with it.

4. Because doubting is contagious – Doubt is easier to catch than the common cold, and its carriers are words. The Bible says, “You are trapped y your own words” (Pr 6:2 CEV). The words you speak, (and listen to) will either build you up or tear you down, increase your faith or decrease it. For example, “What will I do?” versus, “I see no way out” versus “It’s not too big for God.” Words are powerful things. They determine your outlook and approach to life. So in order to move from doubt to faith you must start eliminating UN-scriptural words from your life!

General Internet Marketing Tips for Your Business Website

Looking for some basic Internet marketing tips for your small business? While there are hundreds of suggestions I can make, here’s a list that I think might be the most useful for 90% of small business owners.

1. What is the goal of your website? Ultimately, it should be to drive more business. But how exactly will it do that? Start with one goal, such as increasing the number of phone calls and branch out from there. It’s important to set goals, but it’s just as important to come up with a system for measuring those goals.

2. Evaluate your websites content – Content is King. What does your website say? Is the content unique and useful? Will people learn anything when they visit your site? When was the last time you added new content? Does your website have content worth reading? Does your content match your business goals?

3. The –title> tag – Visit your website. Look at the very top of your browser window. What do you see? Does it describe the page you’re looking at? Is it a unique description? Does it contain the keywords you want people to associate with that page of your website? If you’re a local business, does it contain your key local search keywords? If you can’t answer ‘yes’ to all these questions, research online to find the answers.

4. Call tracking and analytics – You can’t improve upon what you can’t measure. Analytics provide a tremendous amount of incredibly useful data, such as where your website visitors come from, how long they stay, and what they do on your site. Google analytics is free and pretty darn good, and I recommend it. I also recommend you make sure you can track every lead that’s generated by your website. Also, most hosting companies and many Internet Business Opportunities offer Analytics in their packages.

5. Take advantage of free local business directories – There are a few great local business directories that are completely free. Get your business listed in as many of the directories as you can and you’ll see a boost in website visitors and hopefully a boost in business too. (By the way, I don’t advocate paying for any directory listings anywhere unless you’ve got a very good reason.)

6. Check out your competition – Visit your competitors’ websites. Do searches for keywords related to your business. Find out what others in your vertical are doing and saying. This is a great way to get ideas and take stock of your own company’s online marketing efforts.

7. A lot of business owners love their websites, but the first step to improving your website is to admit that it has some deficiencies. No website is perfect, and every website can use improvement. If you have a website, you probably have an ugly baby.[sorry] Just how ugly your website is, however, is open to discussion.

8. Start blogging – Every business, and I mean every business, has something to gain by blogging and absolutely nothing to loose. Why should you blog? The list is long.

9. Post online video – Video is still a little cutting-edge for some, but the benefits can’t be understated. Online video is the wave of the future, and every business needs to have something on YouTube, Metacafe, etc. If you’re concerned about expense here, keep in mind there are some low-budget options that won’t damage your brand while still providing concrete benefits.

10. Take advantage of free website submission services such as:

FreeWebSubmission.com
SubmitExpress.com
Scrubtheweb.com
Manta.com

I am a Seenager

Seenager

I just discovered my age group!

I am a Seenager. (Senior teenager)

I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50-60 years later.

I don’t have to go to school or work

I get an allowance every month.

I have my own pad.

I don’t have a curfew.

I have a driver’s license and my own car.

I have ID that gets me into bars and the wine store. I like the wine store best.

The people I hang around with are not scared of getting pregnant, they aren’t scared of anything, they have been blessed to live this long, why be scared?

And I don’t have acne.

Life is Good! Also, you will feel much more intelligent after reading this, if you are a Seenager.

Brains of older people are slow because they know so much.

People do not decline mentally with age, it just takes them longer to recall facts because they have more information in their brains.

Scientists believe this also makes you hard of hearing as it puts pressure on your inner ear.

Also, older people often go to another room to get something and when they get there, they stand there wondering what they came for.

It is NOT a memory problem, it is nature’s way of making older people do more exercise.

SO THERE!!

I have more friends I should send this to, but right now I can’t remember their names!

How Can I Help You?

The IBO community is one such place where people with all skill levels, knowledge and experience come together to help each other succeed. It is nice to know that everyone has the same goal to uplift, inspire and encourage each other.

I see many really talented marketers and they have got this thing figured out. I appreciate it when those who are more experienced in working a online business take the time to explain, teach and assist.

Are you offering your services in your business?

Often times in the industry people are so focused on recruiting, sponsoring and getting sign-ups that instead of offering help to prospects they just want them to join and then they move on to get the next lead.

My view is that slowing down and working with a smaller number of people to help build them up by teaching them how to be leaders and offering our expertise is going to be the best way to keep retention in the long run.

You can offer your services on IBOtoolbox

I feel that IBOsocial and IBOtoolbox is that place that offers help to everyone. Newbies and veterans can come together and build business relationships that can last for years.

My experience on IBO has been so amazing, and I am grateful to everyone who has reached out to me and how generous everyone is with offering me help, knowledge and assistence.

MLM Compensation Plans – How To Find One That Will Pay YOU Residual Income

First of all let me say this, if you’re not earning residual income right now. I can promise you that it’s not your fault! I can PROVE IT TO YOU if you will continue reading.

Are you ready for the truth? Here goes, the way I see it, pretty much all the compensation plans are scams and the only people who are getting rich are the owners.

How do I know this?

I got educated and learned how to evaluate the compensation plans of the business opportunities on the internet. You must crunch the numbers and calculate how many business partners and customers you need to make residual income in any business opporunity you’re considering joining.

Are you following me so far?

Does it make sense to you?

If you agree, then I will say this to you next, I want you to take time and read this information I am sharing with you about compensation plans several times. Trust me this is what you must know. If not, then you will not make it in any business opportunity and you will not make money online until you understand compensation plans, and here’s something else I will let you in on.

The companies that come up with these so called one of a kind patented pay plans don’t understand them either. If they did, they would know it’s not going to work for long term business success, and they are in business to turn a fast buck at other people’s expense. Am I getting through to you yet? I sincerely hope I am because my whole purpose in telling you this is because I want you to be successful in your business.

The only way it will happen for you. YOU MUST get the education, skills and training you need. I want to say one more thing, the majority of people are failing miserably online, they are busting their hump promoting all kinds of programs and they haven’t crunced the numbers on the compensation plan. It’s their reputation they are ruining by getting people to join and they don’t even know if they can earn residual income with the compensation plan of the business opportunity they’re in.

They end up joining another program and begin promoting it to those same people, no one will trust them because the last business opportunity was a flop.

So it’s worth the effort to learn about MLM compensation plans, crunch the numbers so you will know it’s the right business opportunity that will earn you residual income so you can retire one day. So you won’t be wasting your time and losing all your money.

Have a great day!

10 Tips on Writing a Media Press Release

Follow these tips to craft a powerful media press release and reach all the right audiences.

1. Make sure your press release contains actual news. Your release should be attributing something of value to your organization.

2. Focus your most important messages in the headline, subhead and first two paragraphs. Not only do many readers only skim the first few paragraphs of a press release, but search engines focus almost exclusively on this early content to index your release.

3. Provide a concise, compelling, clear headline of around 20 words. Search engines don’t understand puns or plays on word, so more straightforward headlines actually do a better job of making sure your release is indexed properly. However, people are sometimes drawn in by a clever headline. So your headline should be both compelling and clear to cater to both audiences. For press release SEO purposes, the ideal length of a headline is less than 23 words.

4. Consider including a sub-headline. A subhead provides valuable supplementary guidance to readers as they consider whether to continue reading your release. From a press release SEO standpoint, it’s also a terrific place to incorporate keyword phrases you can’t squeeze into your main headline.

5. Link early and often. Hyperlinks and anchor text helps search engines better index your release by associating its content with other sites. It also helps provide context for readers. Be sure to link the first instance of the brand and/or product name to the homepage of your website. Link the names of spokespeople in your release to their company bio page or even their LinkedIn profile.

6. Make your plain text stand out with formatting. In today’s XHTML world, bold, italic, underlined or bulleted text helps emphasize key points in your plain text release, breaks up your content into easily digestible sections and provides visual cues for skimmers to quickly pick up the gist of your news.

7. Include photos, videos and other multimedia whenever possible. Reporters and consumers tell us and research supports it: visuals increase interest in your news. According to research, press releases with multimedia are more than five times more likely to become a top performing release.

8. Include your company logo. Build recognition by including your logo at the top of your release.

9. Include complete contact information, with up-to-date phone numbers and e-mail addresses. Reporters say this is one of their main pet peeves. Always include a way for media to follow up with you with any questions. You can also consider including a Twitter handle or other social media profile, which is becoming increasingly popular. Do not include contact details for communication tools you do not monitor regularly.

10. If your company is publicly traded, include your exchange, stock symbol and International Securities Identifier Number (ISIN). These maximize access and search functionality of your press release in financial databases and news systems.
