My Devotional – Living Fearlessly

The words “fear not” keep showing up in the Bible all the way from Genesis to Revelation. Why is that? Because God understands that fear is not only our biggest enemy but our constant companion, and He wants to help us overcome it.

One author writes: Think of your comfort zone as a prison you live in – a largely self-created prison. It consists of a collection of cant’s, must’s, must-nots and other unfounded beliefs formed from all the negative thoughts and decisions you have accumulated and reinforced during your lifetime. Every fear is like a bar in that prison.

But the good news is, because fears are feelings, the faulty ones can be removed by faith in God, and you can become free from them. Does this mean you can live totally free from fear? No, writer Michael Ignatieff says: Living fearlessly is not the same thing as never being afraid. It’s good to be afraid occasionally. Fear is a great teacher. What’s not good is living in fear, allowing fear to dictate your choices, allowing fear to define who you are.

Living fearlessly means standing up to fear, taking its measure, refusing to let it shape and define your life. Living fearlessly means taking risks, taking gambles, not playing it safe. It means refusing to take ‘no’ for an answer when you are sure that the answer should have been ‘yes.’ It means refusing to settle for less than what is your due, what is yours by right, what is yours by the sweat of your labor and your effort.” And let’s add – what God has promised and planned for you.

Are You Making These Common Mistakes With Your IBO Press Releases?

IBO tool box is a great platform, as you know and that’s why you’re probably on it right now.

It allows you to publish 2 press releases everyday. Cool right?

Yeah, so long as you’re NOT making these common mistakes.

Here are the 3 Biggest common mistakes I see a lot of people make.

And it’s costing them BIGTIME, because it means that your PR will not get read.

Kinda sucks doesn’t it?

So on to the mistakes so pay attention now.

Mistake # 1 Not using a big enough font size. Don’t just use the default or 12 pt font, as this makes the font small, and it’s hard to read for most people, especially on mobile devices or tablets.

The Solution: use at least 14pt font, as this is big enough even for your grandmother to read. Got it.

Mistake # 2 Not spacing out your text. No one wants to read several lines of a paragraph. It’s tedious.

The Solution: Break up the sentences and never used more that 4, (Ideally 3) lines per paragraph. And use one sentence to lead up, bold, italics and highlight to bring your PR to life. In other words, PIMP your PR.

Mistake # 3 Don’t make them too long. Most people’s attention span is short – I mean less than that of a goldfish.

The Solution: Where possible try and keep it under 300 words. If it’s a long topic consider breaking it up into different parts.

That’s it.

So now you know the common mistakes people make with their IBO PR’s, and you know how to fix them.

If you implement these solutions in your next PR, you’ll notice a big difference and more people will be inclined to read them.

Brought to you by

Chika “The IBO PR Advisor” Nwoko

P.S I actually just thought of another one which I’ll save for another PR, so stay tuned and been on the look out for my press releases.

P.P.S I always try and give value in my IBO Press Releases as it’s a great way to stand out and connect with your ideal proscpect for your businees. I can show you how You can do exactly that.

Setting Business Goals

What is a Business Goal?

It clearly describes an action or actions to be taken or tasks to be accomplished.
It describes a desired future condition toward which efforts are directed.
Without a goal you will find yourself accomplishing very little. They are your goals and you need to design them to fit you and your business.

Goal setting has two basic purposes:

1. The first purpose is to establish a measure or a way to evaluate the success of your business. You must be able to track it and see that it is aligned with your success.

2. The second purpose is to set different priorities for all involved. You need to decide who will be accountable for the accomplishments of each goal you set.

For example let’s say you are setting your goals for your next project. You have partnered up to do a Joint Venture project. You will need to decide who will be responsible for each aspect of the project. Who will write the e-book, who will do the videos, who is going to make sure the copy gets done and so forth.

As the owner and manager of your business you need to set goals to help keep you focused on the success of your business. There are so many things that will keep you distracted. You need to have a system set in place to help keep you away from all of the distracting activities that will do nothing except keep you from doing the things you need to do. Without a goal you will find yourself accomplishing very little.

Common characteristics of a business goal:

Your business goal comes from your mission statement. Your mission statement is nothing more than what you plan to accomplish. Your goals are how you plan to accomplish them.

Your business goals need to be challenging. You need to set goals that will require some effort to reach. Don’t make them so challenging that they are not obtainable, because that will lead to failure. You need to challenge everyone that is involved and responsible for its achievement.

Your business goal needs to say what is going to be done. It needs to be Task-oriented. A business goal must state what is to be accomplished as clearly as possible. Effective goals use action-oriented words like how:
~ How we will implement this plan
~ How will we establish our advertising is working
~ How will we make sure that the product is the right product for our market, etc.

Your business goals need to be short term. Today business moves so much faster with the use of the internet. Things are changing at “Internet Speed” so now we need to have goals that have shorter time frames. Most of them should be a year or less now. Never just make up one set of goals and then forget about them. You need to be constantly re-evaluating our goals. Take a look at what goals you have accomplished and then set new goals for you to strive to meet.

Your goal needs to be very specific. You must state exactly what is required from each one that is involved. If the goal you set will lead you to a 6 figure business in one year then you need to clearly say that if we follow this goal we will be a six figure business in one year.

If we clearly define our goals it will be much easier for everyone or even just yourself if you are the only one involved, to understand, and achieve. You will also be able to measure the amount of success you had. It will help you to always see if you are still on track with where you are heading.

AGE IS A WONDERFUL THING AND SO IS LAUGHTER

ROMANCE

An older couple were lying in bed one night. The husband was falling asleep but the wife was in a romantic mood and wanted to talk.

She said: “You used to hold my hand when we were courting.”
Wearily he reached across, held her hand for a second and tried to get back to sleep.

A few moments later she said: “Then you used to kiss me.”

Mildly irritated, he reached across, gave her a peck on the cheek and settled down to sleep.

Thirty seconds later she said: “Then you used to bite my Neck.”

Angrily, he threw back the bed clothes and got out of bed.

“Where are you going?” she asked.

“To get my teeth!”

SUPERSEXX

A little old lady who had lost her marbles was running up and down the halls in a nursing home.

As she ran, she would flip up the hem of her nightgown and say “Supersexx.”

She ran up to an elderly man in a wheelchair, flipping her gown at him, she said, “Supersexx.”

He sat silently for a moment or two and finally answered, “I’ll take the soup.”

DOWN AT THE RETIREMENT CENTER

80-year old Bessie bursts into the rec room at the retirement home. She holds her clenched fist in the air and announces, “Anyone who can guess what’s in my hand can have relations with me tonight!”

An elderly gentleman in the rear shouts out, “An elephant?”

Bessie thinks a minute and says, “Close enough.”

OLD FRIENDS

Two elderly ladies had been friends for many decades. Over the years, they had shared all kinds of activities and adventures.

Lately, their activities had been limited to meeting a few times a week to play cards.

One day, they were playing cards when one looked at the other and said, “Now don’t get mad at me…,,,,,,, I know we’ve been friends for a long time but I just can’t think of your name.

I’ve thought and thought, but I can’t remember it. Please tell me what your name is.”

Her friend glared at her. For at least three minutes she just stared and glared at her. Finally she said,

“How soon do you need to Know?”

SENIOR DRIVING

As a senior citizen was driving down the motorway, his car phone rang.

Answering, he heard his wife’s voice urgently warning him, ” Vernon , I just heard on the news that there’s a car going the wrong way on M25. Please be careful!”

“Wow,” said Vernon , “It’s not just one car. It’s hundreds of them!”

DRIVING

Two elderly women were out driving in a large car – both could barely see over the dashboard. As they were cruising along, they came to major crossroad. The stoplight was red, but they just went on through.

The woman in the passenger seat thought to herself “I must be losing it. I could have sworn we just went through a red light.” After a few more minutes, they came to another major junction and the light was red again.

Again, they went right through. The woman in the passenger seat was almost sure that the light had been red but was really concerned that she was losing it. She was getting nervous.

At the next junction, sure enough, the light was red and they went on through. So, she turned to the other woman and said, “Mildred, did you know that we just ran through three red lights in a row? You could have killed us both!”

Mildred turned to her and said, “Oh! Am I driving?”

How to Connect Success with the Power of Positive Thinking

Everywhere you look you see interviews from successful people describing what they did to become successful. The key is to look at how they do it. Almost all of them have a positive “can-do” attitude. They use this power of positive thinking to help them succeed.

Your outlook is what your perception of success (or failure) looks like. It has a big impact on your success. The good news is that if you have a negative mindset, you can change it and your attitude to be more positive.

Here are seven ways positive thinking is connected to success:

1. It’s proven to help with problem solving. People who think positively are better able to learn new information. This improves your perspective and enables you to tackle problems and obstacles as they happen.

2. It promotes and enhances your energy level. When you are in a good mood, you tend to laugh more, which boosts your endorphins and your energy level.

“Positive thinking is expecting, talking, believing, and visualizing what you want to achieve. It is seeing what you want, as an accomplished fact.” Remez Sasson

3. Positive thinking helps to give you control by giving you confidence about yourself, your abilities, and situations. Successful people control their thought process, turning a negative pattern into a positive pattern as the need arises.

4. A positive attitude attracts other positive people to you. Successful people often have a large circle of friends and acquaintances. The more people you know, the more doors of opportunity will be opened to you.

5. Positive thinkers are more likely to set goals and follow through by taking action, which also happens to be one of the keys to success – setting goals and following through.

6. Positive thinking improves your decision-making ability by opening your mind to broad thinking and creative solutions while negative thoughts close your mind and narrow your thought process. Successful people are often open-minded, forward thinkers who make good decisions and are good problem solvers.

7. A positive outlook builds resilience. Successful people often face many failures and mistakes before they succeed. Those with a positive attitude are more resilient and recover quicker when they do fail.

Success is more than positive thinking. It requires positive action as well. While positive thinking builds the foundation of success, you have to follow up by taking positive actions!

5 Marketing Tactics That Cost (Almost) Nothing

Most start ups, especially these days, face significant funding challenges. While it is true that the cost of building an online company has come down significantly in the past ten years, the costs of paid search, banner ads and print advertising can still be unattainable for many small companies.

Most of the articles I have read about “free” marketing tactics focus on social media. They encourage business owners to start a blog, tweet, or write a book or white paper. While these are nice ideas, they are time consuming, and may or may not yield results. Here are five things you can do to bring in new customers with zero or little up front cost. Used strategically, these tactics can produce an excellent ROI for your company.

1. Link exchanges. While you NEVER want to buy links (a.k.a. use black hat methods of link building), creating a link network with other companies in your field can help all of your sites grow. These links can take the form of blogrolls, promotional posts, or banner ad exchanges. Especially in this economy, when all budgets are tight, companies are more eager to swap space and links than ever. If your target demographic matches that of another site, swapping sponsored emails is another great way to gain exposure.

2. Pinterest. Pinterest is a rapidly growing visual pin board/social network with over 10 million unique visitors that allows you to pin images to visual boards. With Pinterest, you can quickly establish yourself as an industry expert by creating boards built around the important keywords for your company. You can also post content on your website about how your clients or partners can use Pinterest and include links to your company’s Pinterest profile in your examples (e.g. How to Use Pinterest to connect with your IBOTOOLBOX associates). In just four weeks using this technique, Pinterest has become the fourth largest source of traffic to my site.

3. Contests and giveaways. Everyone likes getting something for free, so contest and promotions are a great way to drive traffic and email sign ups on your site. Don’t forget to post your contests on social media sites too! Make a Pinterest contest board in your industry category for added punch.

4. Refer-a -Friend programs. Let your customers help you spread the word about your company with a refer-a-friend program. Offer a special deal or discount they can pass along to their friends and colleagues for free and incentivise them to share the love.

5. Affiliate marketing. Big Companies REALLY Are Ready to Pay You Right Now for Your Time! There are a lot of companies willing to shell out cash for your time, as they will pay you for bringing visitors to their sites, who go on to buy their product. Basically you become a commission salesperson for these companies. Fortunately a “Commission Salesperson” doesn’t work the same online as it does offline!

With these strategies, you or your company can accomplish a lot without breaking the bank. What other free marketing tactics is your company using? Let me know!

PINTEREST ~ “All Aboard!”

What began as a simple way to collect images on the web has exploded into a phenomenon of self-expression and inspiration from others. I think people care about Pinterest because it helps them feel inspired.

You could get inspired to start a new hobby, or stumble upon a product you never knew existed or quickly find something to cook for dinner. It’s also personal: It’s about the things you like.

That kind of intimacy created a strong emotional tie to the brand. What we like is who we are, so sharing what we like online is like saying “Here’s who I am.”

Why is the brand so popular? Because its popularity is being shaped by the users. Pinterest started out as a way to help people collect images across the web, but it didn’t take off right away. Later it evolved into a place for people to find and save things that inspired them.

User-friendliness is also key. Designing it so you pin on a board is brilliant, because it’s what you actually do at home. People understand that.

Klout named Pinterest one of the most influential companies. The site had more than 27 million unique U.S.-based PC visitors in 2012, an increase of 1,047 percent, and the largest year-over-year growth in audience and time spent of any social network, according to Nielsen.

So as Pinterest continues to grow and expand, don’t you think it’s time for you to take a close look at this blossoming social giant? Maybe add it to your social arsenal???

My Devotional – Moving From Doubt to Faith

Why do we experience so much doubt?

1. Because doubt satisfies our need for self protection – We don’t like to be wrong., to get hurt, or to fail, so our subconscious reasoning says, “It’s easier not to trust, to lower my expectations so I won’t be disappointed.” But your are disappointed, aren’t you? Why? Because of your doubt.

2. Because doubting comes easy – We don’t wake up in the morning and say to ourselves, “Today I’m going to doubt God.” No, doubt comes moves into a vacuum, it takes over when we don’t do the right things. “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Ro 10:17). If you don’t keep your mind filled with God’s word you’ll be constantly assailed by doubts.

3. Because doubters are easy to find – Sometimes the people around us dwell on all the obstacles and difficulties, opening the door to doubt. And once that stream starts flowing, you get carried along with it.

4. Because doubting is contagious – Doubt is easier to catch than the common cold, and its carriers are words. The Bible says, “You are trapped y your own words” (Pr 6:2 CEV). The words you speak, (and listen to) will either build you up or tear you down, increase your faith or decrease it. For example, “What will I do?” versus, “I see no way out” versus “It’s not too big for God.” Words are powerful things. They determine your outlook and approach to life. So in order to move from doubt to faith you must start eliminating UN-scriptural words from your life!

General Internet Marketing Tips for Your Business Website

Looking for some basic Internet marketing tips for your small business? While there are hundreds of suggestions I can make, here’s a list that I think might be the most useful for 90% of small business owners.

1. What is the goal of your website? Ultimately, it should be to drive more business. But how exactly will it do that? Start with one goal, such as increasing the number of phone calls and branch out from there. It’s important to set goals, but it’s just as important to come up with a system for measuring those goals.

2. Evaluate your websites content – Content is King. What does your website say? Is the content unique and useful? Will people learn anything when they visit your site? When was the last time you added new content? Does your website have content worth reading? Does your content match your business goals?

3. The –title> tag – Visit your website. Look at the very top of your browser window. What do you see? Does it describe the page you’re looking at? Is it a unique description? Does it contain the keywords you want people to associate with that page of your website? If you’re a local business, does it contain your key local search keywords? If you can’t answer ‘yes’ to all these questions, research online to find the answers.

4. Call tracking and analytics – You can’t improve upon what you can’t measure. Analytics provide a tremendous amount of incredibly useful data, such as where your website visitors come from, how long they stay, and what they do on your site. Google analytics is free and pretty darn good, and I recommend it. I also recommend you make sure you can track every lead that’s generated by your website. Also, most hosting companies and many Internet Business Opportunities offer Analytics in their packages.

5. Take advantage of free local business directories – There are a few great local business directories that are completely free. Get your business listed in as many of the directories as you can and you’ll see a boost in website visitors and hopefully a boost in business too. (By the way, I don’t advocate paying for any directory listings anywhere unless you’ve got a very good reason.)

6. Check out your competition – Visit your competitors’ websites. Do searches for keywords related to your business. Find out what others in your vertical are doing and saying. This is a great way to get ideas and take stock of your own company’s online marketing efforts.

7. A lot of business owners love their websites, but the first step to improving your website is to admit that it has some deficiencies. No website is perfect, and every website can use improvement. If you have a website, you probably have an ugly baby.[sorry] Just how ugly your website is, however, is open to discussion.

8. Start blogging – Every business, and I mean every business, has something to gain by blogging and absolutely nothing to loose. Why should you blog? The list is long.

9. Post online video – Video is still a little cutting-edge for some, but the benefits can’t be understated. Online video is the wave of the future, and every business needs to have something on YouTube, Metacafe, etc. If you’re concerned about expense here, keep in mind there are some low-budget options that won’t damage your brand while still providing concrete benefits.

10. Take advantage of free website submission services such as:

FreeWebSubmission.com
SubmitExpress.com
Scrubtheweb.com
Manta.com
